One of the franchise's stronger entries, V/H/S/85 largely avoids the quality control issues common to anthologies, with consistently creepy results.

V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com V/H/S/85 is an absolute blast of gore, laughs, fright, and mayhem. Rated: 3/4 Oct 7, 2023 Full Review V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) David Ehrlich indieWire Truth be told, the only thing stranger than the “V/H/S” franchise waiting six movies to revisit the ’80s is how little it does with the decade when it finally goes there. Rated: C Oct 6, 2023 Full Review V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Pretty much just a bunch of stuff you’ve seen before, only now with some mildly ironic twists and tweaks to adjust for retrospective tracking. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 6, 2023 Full Review V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Bee Delores B-Sides & Badlands Six entries in, V/H/S/85 proves there are plenty more macabre stories to tell. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 3, 2024 Full Review V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore One of the creepier in the film series for the way it digs into 1980s North American media and pop culture, along with the overall zeitgeist of America specifically during the ’80s. Rated: 3.5/5 May 4, 2024 Full Review V/H/S/85 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Grant Watson Fiction Machine The V/H/S format continues to work well as a framework for a wide variety of horror cinema, and a showcase for a similarly wide range of directors. Audience Member The first story was by far the best one for me. It was great to see the story develop. The other stories wasn't amazing, the final one was interesting but the audio direction was awful at times. Stick around for the credits as that song is awesome. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Karina P The V/H/S movies are great! They're very unique and definitely keep you interested. V/H/S 85 may not have lived up to the previous movies in the franchise, but I do think it's worth a watch. It helped me brush up on the little bit of Spanish that I actually remember haha. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Hugo S "V/H/S/85" continues the success of the famous found footage franchise in all its weirdness and uniqueness. This latest entry pays tribute to the revolutionary 80's with an anthology of five short horror stories invoking the vibe of this era. These disturbing VHS tapes still haunt us in the present days! Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Cory M This is probably the most disturbing horror film I've ever seen; next to "Sinister". Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/23 Full Review G T M Awful movie. More disjointed than any of the others by far, although this one failed to bring any storyline to connect anything happening in the different scenes. Aside from the squirt gun and shooter shared in 2 of the scenes, nothing else was even related. The news station scene was the worst horror narrative I have ever watched. This is just a sad attempt to squeeze one last movie out of a franchise which was known for gore and randomness by putting complete nonsense on the screen and pretending any real effort at all was spent to make it a feature film. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Jim B First of the series I've seen and it really does a great job of entertainment and awesome display of cinema! Enjoyed enough to want to check out the whole series! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
